100 Kidney Patients, Baner Residents, And Doctors From Manipal Hospital Baner Walk To Raise Awareness For Kidney Health
Pune, March 15 (TNA) In honour of World Kidney Day, Manipal Hospital in Baner organized a walkathon on Thursday to raise awareness about kidney health. The 2-kilometer walk began at 7:00 am from Manipal Hospital in Baner. Dr. Tarun Jeloka, the Head of Department and Consultant Nephrologist, along with Dr. Saurabh Khiste, a Consultant Nephrologist, flagged off the walkathon.
Over 100 individuals participated in the event, including dialysis patients, individuals who have recovered from kidney conditions, doctors, hospital staff, and members of the local community. During the walkathon, Dr. Tarun Jeloka addressed the participants and emphasized the importance of routine checkups, early detection, and preventive care in avoiding chronic kidney conditions and improving kidney health.
He also encouraged people to stay active and take proactive measures for their kidney health. Anand Mote, the Cluster Director of Manipal Hospital in Baner, flagged off the walkathon and highlighted the significance of starting the day with a walk and making small lifestyle changes for overall well-being.
Mote expressed how the event inspired people to prioritize kidney health and reduce the burden of chronic kidney disease in the community. In addition to the walkathon, attendees had the opportunity to consult with physiotherapists and dieticians to gain valuable insights into maintaining optimal kidney health through exercise and nutrition.
