15 Killed In Uttarakhand After Transformer Explodes And Electrifies A Bridge, Six Critically Injured

Dehradun, July 19 (TNA) At least 15 people have been killed in a major tragedy in Uttarakhand as an electricity transformer exploded and it electrified a bridge. The deceased include a policeman and three Home Guards.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami while expressing his condolences on the loss of lives has ordered a magisterial inquiry.

The bridge, which is part of the Namami Gange project, spans the Alaknanda river in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district. DGP Ashok Kumar said, "15 people have been electrocuted, including a police sub-inspector and three home guards.

An investigation is on to establish the cause of the incident." The incident took place on Tuesday night. Six people who have sustained serious burn injuries are being treated at a medical facility.
