Patna, August 22 (TNA) The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Park in Bihar's Patna has been re-renamed as Coconut Park, reverting to its original title. Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav is set to inaugurate the park, as per media reports. The renaming decision was attributed to the state's Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister, Tej Pratap Yadav.

Initially named Coconut Park, it was rechristened after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2018; now, it's being returned to its original name. The move has triggered controversy and opposition. Nityanand Rai, a BJP leader and Minister of State for Home Affairs, criticized the change, stating that altering a park named after the revered Atal Bihari Vajpayee is a grievous mistake.

He lamented the move and urged Tejashwi and Nitish Kumar to reconsider. State BJP President Samrat Chaudhary also disapproved, noting that the renaming contradicts Nitish Kumar's claimed respect for Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He questioned the alignment of Nitish Kumar's words and actions.
