BJP Announces Five More Rajya Sabha Candidates, Ashwini Vaishnaw Fielded From Odisha
New Delhi, February 14 (TNA) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday announced five candidates for candidature to the Rajya Sabha. According to a communique, issued by national general secretary Arun Singh, L Murugan, Umesh Nath Maharaj, Maya Naroliya and Bansilal Gurjar have been fielded from Madhya Pradesh.
Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who enjoys the confidence of prime minister Narendra Modi, has been fielded from Odisha, his home state. Vaishnav has been credited with the makeover, revamp and modernization of the Indian Railways.
The 53-year-old is a former IAS officer who is currently serving as the Minister of Railways, Communications Minister and also holds the charge of Electronics & Information Technology Minister since 2021 and a member of the Rajya Sabha representing Odisha since 2019.
