Customs Seizes Heroin Mixed In Shampoo Worth Rs 54 Crore At IGI Airport, Two Afghan Nationals Arrested
New Delhi, August 11 (TNA) The Customs Department has arrested twoAfghan nationals for smuggling heroin mixed in shampoo from Tehran at Delhi's IGI Airport late on Tuesday.
They had Arrived at T3 terminal and were carrying 7.620 kg of heroin, estimated to be worth around Rs 53.34 crore in the international market. The smugglers were bringing it to India by mixing it in the liquid of shampoo but they were caught.
Both Afghan nationals are being questioned about where the heroin was to be supplied in Delhi. The customs department already had information about the two arrested persons after which their bags were searched.
During the search, bottles of shampoo were recovered from the bag. When the liquid filled in those shampoo bottles was tested, heroin was found in it. The heroin was smuggled in at least 30 bottles of hair color and two bottles of shampoo.
According to officials, many such cases have come to light at the Delhi International Airport in recent times. Customs officials have seized heroin worth more than Rs 600 crore between December 2020 and June this year. During the same period, 18 foreigners and two Indians were arrested in 14 cases.
