Gomti River Front Project: CBI's Anti-Graft Wing Raiding 16 Engineers, 170 Contractors

Lucknow, July 5 (TNA) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is conducting simultaneous raids and searches at many places across the country withe regards to the multi-crore Gomti River Front Project, which was one of the flagship works done under the Akhilesh Yadav regime of Samajwadi Party (SP) in Uttar Pradesh between 2012-2017.

According to information available, raids are being conducted by the premiere investigative agency in many parts of the state capital Lucknow, Noida, West Bengal and Rajasthan.

The raids being conducted by the anti-corruption wing of the CBI are said to have contractor Rakesh Bhati, who is a member of UP Congress Committee (UPCC) in focus, sources said. There is an existing FIR against 190 people in the same.

While some SP leaders are crying hoarse on the raids and have called them politically motivated in the run up to the 2022 state assembly elections, cabinet minister in the state government, Siddhartha Nath Singh said that the Yogi government had requested the CBI to expedite probe into such cases of graft wherein the governments had squandered the public money.
