India's Passport Rises to 80th Rank in 2023 Henley Passport Index

New Delhi, July 20 (TNA) India's passport has made significant progress in the latest Henley Passport Index, climbing five spots from 2022 and securing the 80th position globally. This advancement now allows Indian passport holders visa-free access to 57 destinations, with the option of visa-on-arrival in several countries, including Indonesia, Thailand, Rwanda, Jamaica, and Sri Lanka.

Despite the improvement, Indian citizens still require visas to visit 177 countries, including prominent destinations like China, Japan, Russia, the United States, and various European Union countries. The current ranking ties India with nations like Togo and Senegal.

This enhanced mobility reflects India's ongoing efforts to strengthen diplomatic ties and facilitate international travel for its citizens. With the potential for further improvements, Indian travelers can look forward to exploring more destinations with ease.
