NCW Seeks Action Against Akhilesh Yadav For Provocative Tweet Instigating People To Assault Nupur Sharma

Lucknow, July 4 (TNA) In fresh trouble for former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has directed the state police to take action against him for a provocative tweet against former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma.

The Chairperson has written to UP to take immediate action against him under relevant provisions of law. NCW has also sought a fair and time-bound investigation in matter and has directed the state government to apprise it of the action taken within the next three days.

The Samajwadi Party (SP) chief in a tweet two days back had said that Nupun Sharma should not only pay lip service by saying sorry for her remarks against Prophet Muhammed but that she should also be punished for distrubing peace and harmony in the country.

Many on twitter had responded to the tweet calling it an appeal to instigate people to assault Nupur Sharma.
