New Delhi, November 22 (TNA) As part of its efforts to disrupt the attempts being made by Global Terrorist Groups to spread terror & violence in the country, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday filed its Chargesheet against the four accused arrested so far in the violent conspiracy hatched by the members of the Jabalpur ISIS module.

The conspiracy relates to attempts by ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or Islamic State) to radicalise gullible Muslim youth through on-ground Dawah programmes and various social media platforms.

NIA had arrested three accused, identified as Syed Mamoor Ali, Mohammad Adil Khan and Mohammad Shahid, in May this year in the case (RC-14/2023/NIA/DLI), which it had registered on 24th May 2023 under sections 120B and 295A of IPC and 16, 17, 18, 18B and 20 of UA(P) Act. The fourth accused, Kasif Khan, was nabbed by NIA in August 2023. All four have been named in the chargesheet filed today by NIA.

Investigations so far have revealed that the accused were inspired by the ideology of the banned terror outfit, ISIS. They were working actively to target the democratic institutions and individuals, including prominent leaders.

The module had been conducting meetings in local Religious places and houses, and hatching plans to spread terror in the country by unleashing violent attacks at the instance of the ISIS leadership. They had also been engaged in collecting funds, disseminating ISIS propaganda material, motivating and recruiting youth, and procuring deadly weapons.

The module was a part of the ISIS global network to destabilise India through localised units and Sleeper Cells operating across States, as per NIA investigations.
