Opposition Parties Close Ranks To Move No-Confidence Motion Against Indian Government Amidst Manipur Unrest

New Delhi, July 25 (TNA) In a significant development, opposition parties who have formed the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) on Tuesday decided to move a no-confidence motion against the government in the Lok Sabha, marking the first such motion in two decades. The motion aims to force Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the ongoing ethnic violence in Manipur, which has led to a disruptive monsoon session of Parliament.

Sources close to the development revealed that all opposition parties are on board with the decision and are strategizing to corner the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Rajya Sabha. The opposition's demand for the Prime Minister's statement on the Manipur situation has resulted in repeated disruptions in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi responded to the move, expressing confidence in the government's support. He recalled that a similar no-confidence motion was brought against the BJP-led NDA government in their first term, and they emerged victorious with an increased number of seats.

The opposition parties, led by Mallikarjun Kharge, the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, held a meeting to discuss their strategy to break the deadlock. Congress, along with other opposition parties, has been pushing for a detailed discussion on the Manipur situation and a statement from Prime Minister Modi. Protests and sloganeering have led to adjournments in both Houses since the start of the monsoon session on July 20.

In addition to the no-confidence motion, the opposition has also requested the Rajya Sabha Chairman to revoke the suspension of Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh, who was suspended for defying Chair's directions.
