Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mother Heeraben Dies At Ahmedabad Hospital

Ahmedabad, December 30 (TNA) Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother Heeraben Modi passed away in the wee hours of Friday at a medical facility in Ahmedabad where she had been admitted a few days back. She was 100. PM modi himself broke the news to the world with a tweet, with her mother’s picture holding a diya.

Heeraben had been keeping unwell for some time and had been admitted to Ahmedabad's UN Mehta Hospital. “A glorious century rests at the feet of God,” wrote PM Modi on Twitter, plunging his followers, supporters, leaders and fans worldwide into mourning.

The PM in his tweet further said, “In Maa I have always felt that trinity, which contains the journey of an ascetic, the symbol of a selfless Karmayogi and a life committed to values” and added, “When I met her on her 100th birthday, she said one thing - Always remembered - Work with intelligence, live life with purity.”

Modi was very close to her mother and used to visit her whenever he was in Gujarat. He recently had visited her when she was admitted to the hospital, where she eventually breathed her last.
