Rs 2000 Notes To Remain In Circulation Only Till September 2023: RBI
New Delhi, May 19 (TNA) In what is being termed as mini-demonetization, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday said that the two thousand rupee denomination notes will remain in circulation only till September 2023 this year. It however informed that they can be changed from any bank till the said deadline. ,
The RBI through a press release informed of its decision to withdraw the 2000 rupee note issued after the demonetisation of 2016. However, the 2000 notes present in the market will remain in circulation till 30 September 2023. The Reserve Bank of India has advised banks to stop issuing Rs 2,000 notes with immediate effect.
That is, people who have 2000 rupee notes will have to exchange them from the bank. Notes up to 20 thousand rupees will be changed at a time.
