SC Issues Notice To Delhi Police On Plea By Seven Wrestlers, Next Hearing On Friday
New Delhi, April 25 (TNA) The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notice to the Delhi Police on a plea by seven women wrestlers, including one minor, who moved the apex court, seeking registration of an FIR against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Saran for allegedly harassing women wrestlers.
The Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud noted that there were serious allegations of sexual harassment levelled against the WFI Chief by wrestlers who have represented India. Court says it is a matter that requires serious consideration of the top court.
Delhi Police has since been asked to respond. The next hearing on the matter has been fixed for Friday. Brij Bhushan Saran Singh has denied the charges vehemently. He is also a BJP lawmaker from Uttar Pradesh.
