Lucknow, April 6 (TNA) The sub-variant XE of the Omicron variant of the corona virus has entered in India. The first case of XE was found in Mumbai on Wednesday. However the condition of the infected person is not critical, according to reports.

Omicron variant has been found in 228 out of 230 samples from Mumbai which is 99.13 percent in the survey. The XE sub-variant is believed to be 9.8 percent more infectious than Omicron's own BA.2 sub-variant, the official said. So far, BA.2 was found to be the most infectious of all the variants of the corona virus.

XE is composed of mutations in the ba.1 and ba.2 subvariants of Omicron. It is also being called the stealth variant, as it is able to trick the immune system. The World Health Organization (WHO) has described it as more contagious than the earlier variant.
