Supreme Court To Hear Kolkata Trainee Doctor Rape And Murder Case On Tuesday

New Delhi, August 18 (TNA) The Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognizance of the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata's R G Kar Medical College and Hospital.

According to the August 20 cause list uploaded on the apex court's website, a bench headed by Chief Justice (CJI) DY Chandrachud will hear the matter titled 'Incident of alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata and connected issues' on Tuesday.

The Calcutta High Court recently transferred the investigation of the case from the Kolkata Police to the CBI. The rape-murder case of a junior doctor at the seminar hall of the government hospital has sparked widespread protests. The incident has triggered outrage across many parts of the country, with doctors and the medical fraternity taking to the streets.
