New Delhi, August 28 (TNA) The Union Cabinet has announced a significant reduction in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices, bringing relief to all 330 million users in the country ahead of the festive season. Domestic LPG consumers will receive a subsidy of Rs 200 per cylinder, with additional benefits for PM Ujjwala scheme users.

This extra subsidy is set to take effect immediately, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan and Onam celebrations. As a result of this adjustment, Ujjwala beneficiaries will now receive Rs 400 subsidy per LPG cylinder. Alongside this, the government has approved 7.5 million more Ujjwala connections, increasing the total number of beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana to 103.5 million.

The move comes as a positive step to alleviate the burden of LPG expenses for households and extend the reach of the Ujjwala scheme to more individuals.
