Veteran Actress, Celebrated Marathi Theatre Personality Ashalata Wabgaonkar Dies Of COVID19
MUMBAI || Veteran Bollywood actress and celebrated and Marathi theatre personality Ashalata Wabgaonkar died on Tuesday after complications arising out of COVID. She was 79.
Known for her many rememberable roles in films and in theatre, Ashalata Tai, as she was fondly called, was shooting for a Marathi TV Aai Kalubai in Maharashtrian city Satara last week where she contracted Coronavirus along with 27 others from the crew.
Several celebrities including Shabana Azmi and Renuka Shahane have mourned the passing away of the veteran actress. Ashalata Tai worked in more than 100 Hindi and Marathi movies and was respected for her plays as well. He performances in Varyavarchi Varaat, Guntata Hridhya He Mahananda and Chinna were lauded by many.
She also starred in several acclaimed Bollywood films like Ahista Ahista, Apne Paraye, Woh Saat Din, Ankush, Namak Halaal, Shaukeen and Yaadon Ki Kasam . Some of her best known Marathi films include Vahinichi Maya, Umbartha, Navri Mile Navryala and Sutradhar.
