Yellow Alert Issued For 18 Odisha Districts Due To Asani Cyclonic Storm
Bhubaneshwar, May 6 (TNA) In view of the threat of cyclonic storm Asani, the Odisha government has issued a yellow alert in 18 districts. The Meteorological Department has said that in the next 48 hours, strong gusty winds with a speed of 40-50 km per hour will blow in many places across the coastal state.
In view of the threat, the government has deployed 17 teams of NDRF and 20 teams of ODRAF. 175 fire brigade teams have also been deployed. On the other hand, according to the Meteorological Department, a low pressure area has formed over South Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal area on Friday morning. It is likely to move northwestwards and intensify into a depression during the next 48 hours.
The Met department has said that many districts of Puri, Dhenkanal and North Coastal Odisha may experience strong winds from Friday to Saturday. Due to the low pressure in the Andaman Sea, the speed of the cyclone will be known only on Friday.
