Aligarh, July 4 (TNA) Abdullah Ansari and Naved Khan, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) alumni from the Z H College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCET) and Grade A officers at the Indian Oil Corp Ltd (IOCL), provided the engineering students with an understanding of the many directions students they can tread after clearing the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
In the interactive session of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) student branch, Abdullah and Naved, who secured All India Ranks 117 and 281 respectively in GATE 2021 said that there are a variety of career opportunities after qualifying GATE including private and PSU recruitments, admissions in PhD courses, fellowship programmes and better chances to study abroad.
They pointed out that GATE qualifiers are eligible for a number of prestigious jobs at more than 200 Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) such as BHEL, IOCL, ONGC and NTPC among others.
“A good GATE score also makes candidates eligible for sponsorship programmes where they can work with various government bodies. The sponsorship continues for two years and it comes with a condition that candidates will work with the government bodies after completing their M. Tech or ME”, added Abdullah and Naved.
Prof Salman Hameed (Chairman, Department of Electrical Engineering) and Prof Mohd Rihan (Vice-Chair, Executive Committee, IEEE UP Section) extended gratitude to the AMU alumni for engaging with the students to explain to them the importance of qualifying GATE and working with PSUs.
Mahena Mahmood (Secretary, IEEE student branch) delivered the welcome address. Abdullah and Naved completed their B. Tech (Electrical Engineering) from ZHCET in 2020.
