CMS Founder Jagdish Gandhi Passes Away At 88, Cremation Today
Lucknow, January 22 (TNA) The city and the state lost one of the tallest educationists in recent times, the founder of the City Montessori School (CMS), Jagdish Gandhi passed away on Sunday night after a prolonged illness. Gandhi was ill for a long time.
Gandhi, who held the Guinness Book of World Records for running schools with the largest number of children in a city, was admitted to Medanta Hospital for the past several days due to health-related problems.
CMS spokesperson Rishi Khanna said that he breathed his last around 1 pm on Sunday. At present his body is kept in the hospital mortuary. His last rites will be performed on Tuesday, before which, his mortal remains will be kept for darshan in various branches of the school.
Dr. Gandhi, along with his wife Dr. Bharati Gandhi, laid the foundation of the school on 1 July 1959 in a rented house on Station Road. There were five children in the school at that time. At present, more than 59 thousand students are studying in the school in 21 branches located in Lucknow city. Dr. Jagdish Gandhi is also recognized for organizing the International Judges Conference every year for world peace.
