CBSE Allows Regional Languages As Medium Of Instruction In Schools

New Delhi, July 22 (TNA) CBSE has now allowed regional languages as a medium of instruction in their schools. Students learn best when they are taught in a language they understand. Starting education in their mother tongue will help children grasp concepts faster and develop a solid foundation for future learning. Using mother languages in education will also help preserve and promote indigenous cultures and languages.

National Education Policy 2020 emphasizes the importance and cognitive benefitsof multilingualism for young students. Use of Indian languages as an alternative medium of instructions from primary classes to class 12 has been reiterated in this important circular of CBSE.

Ministry of Education Appreciating CBSE for encouraging its affiliated schools to use Indian languages (mother tongue) as a medium of instruction and adapting multilingual education, in line with the vision of National Education Policy, 2020. This provides a significant cognitive advantage to young learners when they are exposed to multiple languages, with a specific focus on mother tongue.
