Latest, State-of-Art Cell Phone Jammers To Be Installed In UP Prisons, Pilot Project Soon
Lucknow, March 12 (TNA) With the state government going all out to curb crime, both on the streets and behind the walls of prisons, the noose is set to tighten in the jails of Uttar Pradesh. On the lines of Tihar, state-of-the-art jammers will be installed in UP jails, which will disable signals of mobile phones.
New technology mobile jammers will be installed in UP jails like Tihar Jail. The Union Home Ministry has advised the Prisons Department of UP in this regard. The Prisons Department has started the study about new technology jammers. Soon the exercise of installing it in some jails will be started as a pilot project.
The use of mobile in the jails of the state is not a new thing. Recorded videos from mobiles in jails have come to the fore in the last few years. Last year, when DM and SP raided Azamgarh jail, 12 mobiles were recovered.
In the investigation of the Umesh Pal murder case in Prayagraj, it has come to light that Ashraf, brother of the mafia Atiq Ahmed, who is lodged in Bareilly jail, was also using mobile. With the connivance of jail officials, his brother-in-law Saddam used to take mobile with which Ashraf used to talk to Atiq Ahmed, lodged in Gujarat's Sabarmati Jail, and his family members in Prayagraj.
The jammers installed in 24 jails of the state can block only 3G mobile signals. These jammers are proving useless due to the prisoners having 4-G and 5-G technology phones. For this reason, plans are being made to use the new Jammer Tower technology being used in Tihar Jail. The jammers with Harmonious Call Blocking System will block all signals or not allow calls to go through.
