UP Govt Opens Coffers For Women In Its Budget 2023-24
Lucknow, February 22 (TNA) In the second budget of the Yogi 2.0 government, special funds have been allocated for the development of women and children. Finance Minister Suresh Khanna, while presenting the budget on Wednesday, said in his speech that under Uttar Pradesh Rani Lakshmibai Mahila and Bal Samman Kosh scheme, financial and medical assistance is being provided to women/girls who are victims of heinous violence.
For the financial year 2023-2024, a budget provision of Rs 56 crore is proposed under this scheme.
Under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana, awareness programs are being conducted for prevention of female feticide. This scheme is being implemented in 71 districts of the state.
Supplementary nutritious food is being distributed to children in the age group of 06 months to 06 years, pregnant women and lactating mothers in the form of "Take Home Ration" through nutritional production units established by the Uttar Pradesh Rural Livelihood Mission and NAFED. About 1.85 crore beneficiaries are being benefitted from supplementary nutrition in the state. For this scheme, a provision of Rs 291 crore is proposed in the budget of the financial year 2023-2024.
A provision of Rs 25 crore is proposed for health insurance for Anganwadi workers under Ayushman Bharat. Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyan is being run with the aim of reducing the level of malnutrition in children up to 6 years and reducing the level of anemia in children between 6 to 59 months and reducing the level of anemia in pregnant / lactating women. Under this plan, a budget arrangement of Rs 455 crore 52 lakh is proposed for the financial year 2023-2024.
