115th Executive Meeting Of UP Council Of Science And Technology Clears 109 Research Proposals Worth Rs 1409.95 Lakh

Lucknow, Oct 6 (TNA) The Council of Science and Technology, Uttar Pradesh held its 115th Executive Committee meeting on Thursday, an official said. Chaired by Narendra Bhooshan, Principal Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, the meeting cleared a total of 109 research proposals, which is more than the research proposals approved by the Council in any year. The total expenditure on these research proposals will be Rs 1409.95 lakh.

A research proposal was approved to develop IoT operated, helmet controlled electronic wheel chair based on Artificial Intelligence for disabled people. This work will be done by Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology for Handicapped, Kanpur.

Desk workers face problems like back pain/spondylitis etc. when they work continuously and for long hours. To get rid of this problem, a research project was approved to Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Prayagraj to develop a real-time posture correction system for desk workers based on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and IoT. If the posture is wrong, this system will give warning to the desk workers to correct the posture.

Rani Lakshmibai Central University, Jhansi will work to encourage the cultivation of grass in the tribal areas of Bundelkhand and make its improved varieties available. Plas is used in making colours, making dona leaves, making medicines, ply boards etc. Therefore, the project will help in generating employment and increasing the income of farmers.

Rohilkhand University will develop resources for asset inspection of energy related industries with the help of artificial intelligence and drones while Multiparametric MRI models based on machine learning will be developed by King George Medical University, Lucknow, which will help in identification, classification and diagnosis of renal tumors.

Diagnosis of throat cancer caused by the side effects of betel leaf and tobacco is delayed. IIT Kanpur will develop an Artificial Intelligence based healthcare application for early detection of side effects of betel-tobacco consumption and throat cancer through advanced endoscopic imaging, which will enable timely treatment of this deadly disease and save the lives of many patients.

Fellowship of research staff working in research projects funded by the Council was increased. Fellowship of Research Assistant increased from Rs. 20,000.00 to Rs. 25000.00, Fellowship of Senior Research Assistant increased from Rs. 22,000.00 to Rs. 28000.00.

The Executive Committee suggested to conduct research work in all the districts of the state, especially in the aspirational districts, backward districts of Bundelkhand and Purvanchal. ISRO has established India as a leading space power by successfully carrying out the work of Chandrayaan-3, Aditya L-1 and Gaganyaan Mission etc. in the field of space. To increase interest in this field among the students of Uttar Pradesh, it was decided to organize a two-day workshop for teachers and students in coordination with ISRO.
