12 Killed In Shahjahanpur As Speeding Truck Hits Auto On A Foggy Morning
Lucknow, January 25 (TNA) A dozen people were killed on Thursday morning in Shahjahanpur when an auto full of passengers was hit by a speeding truck, police said. The ill-fated vehicle filled with devotees was going to Dhai Ghat to take bath in Ganga from village Damgada of Madanapur police station of Shahjahanpur.
The accident took place on Bareilly-Farrukhabad highway near Sugsugi village of Alhaganj at around 11 am. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the accident. The deceased include the driver of the auto as well. After the accident, DM Umesh Pratap Singh, SP Ashok Kumar Meena and Jalalabad MLA Hariprakash Verma reached the spot.
Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem. Dense fog and poor visibility are the likely reason for the mishap.
