192 School Vehicles Found Unfit In Lucknow, 118 Challaned

Lucknow, July 17 (TNA) The ongoing crackdown being carried out on school vehicles plying on roads without fitness and permits has intensified this week. In Lucknow alone, 192 school vehicles were found unfit in seven days, 118 of them were challaned and 25 were shut down.

Similar action has been taken in other districts of Lucknow division, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Sitapur, Lakhimpur Kheri and Hardoi. The Transport Department is taking action by checking not only school vehicles but also other unauthorized vehicles. From 8th to 14th July, out of 3721 vehicles registered in Lucknow, 2024 were checked, out of which 1832 were found fit.

Notice was sent to most of the unfit vehicles. In Unnao 12 vehicles were found unfit, 12 were challaned and 5 impounded, in Rae Bareli 80 were declared unfit, 45 challaned and 18 impounded, in Sitapur 109 were deemed unfit, 11 challaned and 5 impounded.

In Lucknow division 7746 school vehicles are registered, number of vehicles checked so far is 4222, 3755 have been found fit and 467 unfit. A penalty of Rs 10.89 lakh has been collected. The campaign will continue uninterrupted till July 31.
