42 Cases Registered For Hate Speeches During Lok Sabha Poll Campaign 2024 In UP
Lucknow, May 29 (TNA) UP Police has so far registered 42 cases for inflammatory speeches under the Model Code of Conduct. SP leader and former minister Azam Khan had been punished for giving hate speech in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
The verbal spat between leaders during the Lok Sabha elections can now become a cause of trouble. The state police has registered 42 cases of inflammatory speech (hate speech) under the Model Code of Conduct of elections. Out of which a maximum of 6 cases have been registered in Gonda district.
Apart from this, 3 cases have been registered in Fatehpur, 2 each in Kanpur, Prayagraj, Sitapur, Moradabad, Chitrakoot, Auraiya, Barabanki and one each in Ghaziabad, Varanasi, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Kanpur Dehat, Meerut, Sambhal, Ballia, Fatehgarh, Mainpuri, Firozabad, Chandauli, Kushinagar, Badaun, Etawah, Etah, Balrampur, Shravasti, Jaunpur and Azamgarh on the complaint of hate speech.
These cases include former BSP national coordinator Akash Anand, BSP Sitapur district president Vikas Rajvanshi, BSP candidate Mahendra Yadav, BSP candidate from Lakhimpur Anshay Kalra, BSP candidate from Dhaurahra Shyam Kishore Awasthi, Congress leader Salman Khurshid, his niece Maria Alam, SP district vice president of Sambhal Mohammad Usman, SP candidate from Sambhal Ziaur Rahman Barq, SP candidate from Moradabad Ruchi Veera, BSP candidate from Kairana Shripal Rana etc.
On the other hand, a case has been registered against the BJP candidate from Gonda, Kirtivardhan Singh, SP candidate Shreya Verma, BJP MP Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, his son and BJP candidate from Kaiserganj, Karan Bhushan Singh, for campaigning without permission.
According to the Election Commission, 153 cases have been registered in the state so far during the Lok Sabha elections for holding meetings and speeches without permission, distributing cash to lure voters, misuse of beacon lights in vehicles, flags and other matters. Apart from this, 9 NCRs have also been registered.
