Activist Seeks Action Against Cops For Downplaying Hathras Gang Rape Case
Lucknow, December 21 (TNA) After submission of Charge sheet by CBI in Hathras rape and murder case, city-based activist Nutan Thakur has sought action against all those police officers who deliberately downplayed the matter and shielded the accused instead of acting fairly in the case.
In her letter to ACS Home Awanish Kumar Awasthi, Nutan said that the way ADG Law Order Prashant Kumar and other officers had declared that it was not an incidence of rape is highly objectionable, against which action must be taken.
In addition, Nutan has objected to the complete inaction in FIR No 156/2020 under sections 228A IPC and 72 IT Act registered by her at police station Chandpa, Hathras against Twitter and other named Internet sites for revealing the identity of the victim.
She said no action has been taken in the matter despite passage of 2.5 months, while the name and identity of the victim is still present on many websites, which is completely illegal. Hence she has sought swift action in the case and immediate removal of all the identity marks of the victim on Internet and social sites.
