Lucknow, January 27 (TNA) Amid rumours that Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar was shifting allegiance to the NDA, the Samajwadi Party (SP) chief has rued the turn of events. He said the JD (U) chief should not go ahead with the rumoured move as he was set to get nothing by aligning with the BJP. If he stays put with the I.N.D.I alliance. he could also be a potential prime ministerial candidate, Yadav told a TV channel in an interview.

“At least one among us is a PM candidate. Anyone can get a number here. After all, what will they find there?” he mused. Speaking to a TV channel, Akhilesh said that it was the responsibility of the Congress to keep Nitish in the India alliance. His anger should have been understood. Congress did not do so with the promptness with which it should have handled the situation, the former UP chief minister added.

He further said that all the parties involved in the I.N.D.I alliance respect him and there is no party which does not respect him. Nitish Kumar's role in stitching up the opposition block was huge, he pointed out. When at one time Mamta, Akhilesh and other regional parties had talked about talks with Congress, at that time Nitish Kumar had become the convenor and met all the parties.
