Aligarh Muslim University Included As An 'Institute of Repute'
Aligarh, March 31 (TNA) In order to implement city-specific plans in 132 cities under the Central government's "National Clean Air Programme (NACP), different urban local bodies, state pollution control boards and institutes of repute (IoRs) signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) for executing multiple actions on the ground in a time-bound manner.
The IoRs such as IITs, NITs, CSIR, scientific bodies and Aligarh Muslim University will help these non-attainment cities as knowledge partners. "This initiative is in the line with the Prime Minister's vision of curbing air pollution by 20% in the next four years.
"It is not an easy task but a tough challenge which we need to achieve together", said the Union Environment Minister, Prakash Jawadekar, while urging states to take all identified actions on the ground to ensure clean air.
AMU has been chosen as the institute of repute and signed two MoUs for the city of Moradabad and Khurja to work as a technical partner and provide technical assistance to the urban local board under the guidance of Professor Sohail Ayub, Department of Civil Engineering, AMU.
