All 13 Candidates Elected Unopposed For UP Legislative Council

Lucknow, June 14 (TNA) All the candidates have been declared elected unopposed in the elections being held on 13 seats of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council. It includes nine candidates from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and four from the Samajwadi Party (SP), including seven ministers from the Yogi government.

The results were announced after the deadline for withdrawal of nominations in the elections for the 13 seats of the Legislative Council that will fall vacant on July 6. Returning Officer Brij Bhushan Dubey distributed certificates to the winning candidates.

13 seats of the Legislative Council are falling vacant on July 6. The process for election to these seats started from June 2. Till the last date on June 9, only 13 nominations were filed for the allotted seats. Scrutiny of nomination papers on June 10 found all nominations valid. Monday is the last date for withdrawal of nominations. The tenure of all these will start from July 6, 2022.

BJP candidates include Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, Panchayati Raj Minister Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary, Cooperatives Minister JPS Rathore, Minister of State for Industrial Development Jaswant Singh Saini, Backward Classes Welfare Minister Narendra Kashyap, Minister of State for AYUSH Dayashankar Mishra 'Dayalu' and Minister of State for Minority Welfare Danish Azad Ansari have been elected.

The other two are Mukesh Sharma and former Kannauj MLA Banwari Lal Dohre. Among the SP candidates, four candidates, including Swami Prasad Maurya, Mukul Yadav, son of Sobran Singh Yadav, who left the Karhal assembly seat for Akhilesh Yadav, Shahnawaz Khan of Saharanpur and former MLA from Sitapur Jasmir Ansari.

BJP will be strong in the Legislative Council: On July 6, 13 seats of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council are falling vacant. Out of this, three seats of Bharatiya Janata Party are falling vacant. At the same time, the term of six members of the Samajwadi Party is being completed.

Apart from these, three seats of Bahujan Samaj Party and one seat of Congress are falling vacant. Bharatiya Janata Party has been the biggest gainer in this election. It has won nine seats. In this way, apart from all the vacant seats of BSP and Congress, two vacant seats of SP have also gone to BJP's court. This will further strengthen the position of BJP in the Legislative Council.
