Allahabad HC Orders Quashing Of FIR Against Makers Of Mirzapur Web Series

Prayagraj, December 11 (TNA) In big relief to the makers of popular web series Mirzapur, the Allahabad High Court (HC) on Saturday ordered the cancellation of an FIR against the producer duo Farhan Khan and Ritesh Sidhwani. Senior advocate Gopal Swaroop Chaturvedi and senior advocate Manish Tewari, appearing for the petitioner, submitted that even if the FIR charges are accepted, no criminal case is made out against the petitioners.

Movies have been made and aired in the name of cities in the past. Advocates took the names of many films in front of the court. The Allahabad High Court then quashed the FIR registered against Farhan Khan and Ritesh Sidhwani, producers of the web series Mirzapur.

In the case, there was an allegation of hurting the sentiments of the regional, social and religious faith of Mirzapur. The High Court said that there is nothing on record to say that religious sentiments of any section have been hurt.

A division bench of Justice MC Tripathi and Justice S Vidyarthi, which was hearing the case, had earlier ordered completion of the investigation while staying the arrests of the web series producers Farhan Khan and Ritesh Sidhwani.

Also, the petitioners were directed to cooperate in the investigation. Senior advocate Gopal Swaroop Chaturvedi and senior advocate Manish Tewari, appearing for the petitioner, submitted that even if the FIR charges are accepted, no criminal case is made out against the petitioners.
