Allahabad HC Quashes 14-year-old FIR Against BJP’s Prayagraj MP Rita Bahuguna Joshi
Prayagraj, Sep 13 (TNA) In a big relief to BJP MP Rita Bahuguna Joshi, the Allahabad High Court has quashed an FIR lodged against her 14 years ago. The FIR pertained to alleged irregularities when she was mayor of the city some 14 years back.
This order was given by a division bench of Justice Sunit Kumar and Justice Syed Vaiz Mian after hearing Rita Bahuguna Joshi's advocates Sunil Dutt Kautilya and Satyavrat Sahai and also the public prosecutor. In the year 2008, the then Tehsildar Vijay Shankar Mishra had lodged an FIR at the Civil Lines police station alleging that Dr. Joshi misused her powers as mayor.
He had alled that she had destroyed the land of Municipal Corporation along with other accused in plot number 408 located at Fatehpur Bichhua. Dr. Rita Bahuguna Joshi's advocate Kautilya said in his argument that the FIR was motivated by malice and said that earlier the CBI had already investigated this case on the orders of the High Court.
