Amid Rising Covid Cases, UP Chief Secretary Reviews Situation, Mock Drill On April 11-12

Lucknow, March 30 (TNA) With a steady increase in Corona Virus cases in the state, alarm bells have started ringing in Uttar Pradesh government which has stepped up vigil. Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra on Wednesday, through video conferencing, reviewed the increasing cases of corona and the communicable disease control campaign starting from April 1.

He said that in view of the increasing number of patients in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Ghaziabad, Lucknow, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur and Varanasi, special vigilance should be taken. More and more people should be tested for Covid there. Dedicated hospitals and wards of Corona should be immediately activated in the districts, the top bureaucrat underlined.

The Chief Secretary also instructed all the Divisional Commissioners and District Magistrates that medicines, PPE kits, gloves and masks etc. should be available in sufficient quantity in the hospitals to prevent corona. On the other hand, oxygen plants and oxygen concentrators should be made functional in medical colleges and hospitals, he added.

He said that people should be made aware to prevent Covid through the public address system. On April 11 and 12, a mock drill will be conducted simultaneously across the state to test the preparedness of the Covid hospitals.
