Another 22-Year-Old Dalit Woman Dies After Allegedly Being Raped In UP, Two Arrested

LUCKNOW || At a time when the anger and outrage against the gruesome gang rape and assault on a Dalit girl in Hathras continues to simmer, a 22-year-old Dalit woman has died after allegedly being raped and assaulted on Tuesday evening in Balrampur.

The victim died on way to a medical facility in Lucknow. The Balrampur police has said that based on a named FIR, it has arrested the two accused. It however said that the autopsy has not revealed any injures to the deceased. There is also no official word on allegations that the victim was raped and then physically assaulted, leading to her death.

Mother of the woman has alleged that she was on way to college when she was abducted. When she did not return home on time, the family raised an alarm and began searching for her. She returned home at around 7 pm on an e-rickshaw, allegedly drugged by the assailants and thrown outside their house.

She complained of terrible stomach pain and died now ay to Lucknow, when she was near Balrampur town. Her family said she had a Vigo, used for injecting some fluids when a patient was unwell. Based on the post-mortem report, the police has trashed the charges of assault on the victim.

Meanwhile, many opposition party leaders, including Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav have slammed the state government and accused it of trying to hush up matters even as crimes against women were brazenly being done.
