As Amit Shah Launches BJP Campaign In Western UP, Covid Protocols Thrown To The Wind

1 min read

Lucknow, January 23 (TNA) On Saturday as the union home minister Amit Shah launched the BJP campaign for the UP Polls from Kairana in western Uttar Pradesh, the Covid norms and other related guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI) were thrown to the wind.

Visuals and television grabs, many shared by the ruling party itself, showed neither Shah, nor other senior BJP leaders wearing the “mandatory masks” or following the social distancing or poll panel’s 5-person limit on door-to-door campaigning, given the surging coronavirus third wave.

In many other meetings and interactions as well, the union home minister was seen not wearing a mask at any place, be it the interaction with the intelligentsia, the cadres of even families in Kairana, who were victims of an alleged exodus under the Samajwadi Party rule.

Opposition parties have been accusing the poll panel of being soft on the saffron party while cases and FIR's are being slapped against opposition leaders while not much action is being taken against the ruling party.
