Asaduddin Owaisi Gets Interim Relief From Allahabad High Court
Prayagraj, March 7 (TNA) The Allahabad High Court has given interim relief to AIMIM National President Asaduddin Owaisi in a case about a controversial statement given in Siddharthnagar in 2022. The court has said that no criminal action will be taken till the next hearing of the case.
This order has been given by the single bench of Justice Sanjay Kumar Singh on the petition filed by Asaduddin Owais who had expressed his views on the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi dispute case in a TV interview in Siddharthnagar. He had expressed dissatisfaction with the decision of the Supreme Court. Had said that he is not satisfied with the decision of the Muslim Law Personal Board.
The former principal of Shohratgarh Degree College Siddharthnagar had filed a complaint before the CGM court objecting to his interview. On the orders of the court, an FIR was registered against him in Shohratgarh police station under sections 153-A, 295-A and 298 of the IPC. While hearing the case, the court issued a summons to Owaisi and passed an order to appear. Owaisi had filed an application in Allahabad High Court demanding cancellation of this criminal action.
On behalf of the petitioner, it was said that CGM has issued this summons without any statement. He is a resident of another state and necessary approval was not taken from him before initiating the complaint. The government advocate said that there is no need of prior sanction from the prosecution. This is a case of complaint filed by the private respondent. On this, the court has fixed April 16 for the hearing of the case, giving the complainant/defendant a chance to file a reply.
