Ashish Mishra Surrenders Before UP Police, Sent To Jail
Lucknow, April 24 (TNA) Ashish Mishra ‘Monu’, son of Union minister of state for Home Ajay Mishra ‘Teni’ surrendered before the Uttar Pradesh Police on Sunday after which he was sent to the Lakhmipur Kheri prison. He is the prime accused in a case of running over farmers during a protest demonstration against the now-repealed contentious farm laws.
Mishra has been charged with the murder of farmers and a journalist after he allegedly ran over them with his vehicle. The Supreme Court had last week cancelled his bail and given him a week to surrender.
He was granted bail by the Allahabad High Court (HC) in February but the apex court cancelled his bail and has asked him to approach the Allahabad High Court again.
