ATS Commandoes Conduct ‘Anti-Hijacking Drill’ In Lucknow Metro Train
Lucknow, May 14 (TNA) The security agencies on Saturday late evening conducted a special security exercise in Metro Depot situated at Transport Nagar with an objective to successfully operate the evacuation of commuters in case of hijacking and thwart any terrorist attack.
The commandos of Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and trainees of Special Security Force (SSF) along with security personnel of Lucknow Metro jointly participated in this exercise.
The drill mainly centred around activities like retaking control of hijacked Metro train, entering inside the train, evacuating commuters safely and neutralising the terrorists were executed in a form of operation. As Metro network usually passes through the central part, connecting all important corners of the city, its security is vital and remains at top priority.
While ATS is a highly trained anti-terrorist squad, SSF is newly formed force for the security of Metro rail and various important institutions. The training of SSF personnel is currently being done in Sitapur, and they will be later deployed for the security of Metro rail.
Security Commissioner, UPMRC, Umesh Chandra Srivastava, Additional SP, Sanjay Kumar Sharma of ATS along with Instructors of SSF were present. Sharma has a background of working with the NSG and SPG.
Apart from this drill, the security and operation staff of Lucknow Metro also informed the ATS commandos and SSF team about the security equipments, SoPs and coordination practices followed by Lucknow Metro.
