Case Of Misuse Of Official Letterhead: Bail Plea Of Former UP Minister Azam Khan Rejected
Lucknow, February 17 (TNA) A court ahs rejected the bail application of Samajwadi Party (SP) veteran and former UP minister Mohd Azam Khan in a case pertaining to misuse of the government letter head. The court said that 12 cases of similar offenses are registered against the accused.
Special Judge Harbans Narayan of MP-MLA Court on Wednesday rejected the bail application and said it seems that he is used to committing such crimes. If accused Azam Khan is granted bail, he may tamper with the evidence.
The court also said that the accused has published a written derogatory statement against the Shia religious leader with the intention of creating hatred and animosity between the two sections, which seems to have serious and widespread ill effects on the society.
Opposing the bail, public prosecutor Jwala Prasad Sharma said that the plaintiff Allama Jamir Naqvi had lodged the report of the case on February 1, 2019, at the Hazratganj police station. It states that the incident is related to the year 2014, but due to the influence of the then government, the report was not being registered.
