Central GST Commissioner Office Lucknow Busts 131 Fake Firms Registered In 11 Districts

Lucknow, July 21 (TNA) Officials of the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) Commissionerate have busted 131 fake firms involved in supplies worth Rs 1355 crore in 11 districts of UP. The team investigated 647 firms in 11 districts including Lucknow, Unnao, Hardoi, Sitapur, Barabanki. CGST Lucknow launched a special all India campaign from May 15, June to July 15 to eliminate syndicates operating across the country.

These firms fraudulently used PAN of other persons for GST registration, some by submitting forged rent agreements or electricity bills and addresses which did not actually exist. These bogus firms wrongly gave ITC benefit of Rs 197 crore by showing supply of Rs 1355 crore. Input tax credit (ITC) has been stopped by canceling the registration of identified firms.
