Country's First Transgender Cell Opens In Varanasi’s Kashi Vidyapeeth
Varanasi, July 15 (TNA) Transgender students in Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth located in Varanasi will now be relieved from the problems they face in social life along with the educational environment. The country's first transgender cell has opened in Kashi Vidyapeeth on Friday.
With the help of this, arrangements for the rights and social justice of transgender students will be implemented. Activities will be increased in the university campus as well as outside. Chancellor and Governor Anandi Ben Patel expressed happiness over the launch of the cell and said that better work should be done for transgender students.
Vice Chancellor Prof. AK Tyagi told that Prof. of Social Work Department, Sanjay has been given the responsibility of the coordinator. Transgender students will now be relieved from the problems they face in social life along with the educational environment.
After the university campus, branches of transgender cell will also be opened in 350 affiliated colleges of Varanasi, Chandauli, Mirzapur, Bhadohi and Sonbhadra. Along with skill development, they will be made self-reliant. Coordinator Prof. Sanjay said that transgender students hide their identity due to social fear. At present there are more than 25 transgender students studying.
