Daily Flights From Jaipur To Agra To Start From October 29
Agra, Oct 3 (TNA) The Agra tourism industry has welcomed the announcement by Indigo of starting a daily flight to connect Jaipur with Agra, two important points of the Golden Triangle drawing a maximum number of tourists from abroad. The airline has released its new schedule for flights, indicating a daily flight to Agra from Jaipur will start from October 29.
At present there is no flight from Agra to Delhi, though Agra is now air-connected with Banglore, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, and Bhopal. The flights have enhanced passenger connectivity between the culturally rich cities, which are highly favoured by both local and international tourists. Tourism bodies today demanded flights to Goa, Mysore and Hyderabad.
Industry leaders said that the new daily flight to Jaipur is expected to promote business and leisure travel between the two cities. Both the towns draw foreign tourists, as well as domestic visitors. Home to three world heritage monuments, Agra remains India's number one tourist destination, visited by over seven million tourists annually.
The Kheria airport is a major Air Force base station for para troopers and transport planes. A strip is used for civilian aircraft. "The main problem is that right now there is no separate access point or a terminal building. The mobility is restricted and passengers have to go through security checks. This proves cumbersome and results in a considerable waste of time. Though permission has been granted for a new terminal building the construction process has taken years and faces several hurdles, as of now," said Anil Sharma, president of the Agra Civil Society that spearheads a movement for an international airport in Agra.
Indigo’s announcement is in line with recent developmental initiatives in Agra, including the expansion of the Agra Airport (AGR). With an already strong domestic market share, IndiGo further enhances passenger connectivity between the two populous destinations.
The Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, Vinay Malhotra, shared his excitement in a press release. “We are thrilled to announce operations between the culturally rich cities of Jaipur and Agra, marking another significant milestone in our commitment to enhancing regional connectivity. Agra and Jaipur are part of India's renowned Golden Triangle and are highly favoured by both local and international tourists. The new flight also enhances regional connectivity in line with our commitment to provide an affordable and hassle-free flying experience for our customers.”
