Despite A High-Decibel Campaign By Priyanka Gandhi, Congress Leading In Just Two Assembly Seats In UP
Lucknow, March 10 (TNA) Despite the massive push by the party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and its leader the Congress is faring very badly in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. According to the trends that are available, the Congress which had won seven seats in 2017 is now “in-the-fight” in just two of the 403 seats in the politically crucial state.
Aradhana Misra ‘Mona’, the CLP leader in the outgoing state assembly is leading in Rampur Khas in Pratapgarh. The seat ahs been held a record nine-times and twice by her. Misra is popular with the party cadres and the voters equally. A former journalist, Mona Misra was leading by some nine thousand off votes over her nearest BJP rival Nagesh Pratap Singh aka Chote Sarkaar.
Misra has polled some 49.72 % votes and 63678 votes even as the votes are being counted. The other seat where the Congress is in the contest is Farendra in Maharajganj where Congress candidate Virendra Chowdhary has taken a lead over his BJP rival Bajrang Bahadur Singh. This seat was won by the BJP in 2017. UPCC president Ajay Kumar Lallu is trailing from his seat.
