Criminal Carrying Rs One Lakh Reward On His Head Killed In Gorakhpur In Police Encounter

Gorakhpur, Sep 10 (TNA) In a big success for the Uttar Pradesh Police, a joint team of SWAT and the Gagaha Police in Gorakhpur, a dreaded criminal - Vijay Prajapati, was killed in a police encounter, an official said on Friday.

The criminal carried a reward of Rs one lakh on his head. According to the police he opened fire on the police after being intercepted and in retaliatory fire, he was killed. His accomplice however, taking advantage of the dark, fled and is on the run.

Police are combing the area to nab him in the Sonbarsa area where the encounter between the police and the criminal dup took place, a police official told The News Agency. Prajapati had scores of criminal cases including that of murder, extortion and robberies against his name.

The police has recovered a bike, a pistol and fake ID's of CBI and Police, under different identities.
