Dreaded Criminal Shot Dead In Lucknow Court Premises, Four Others Injured In Shootout

Lucknow, June 7 (TNA) In a sensational incident unidentified assailants shot dead a dreaded criminal in the court campus in Qaiserbagh area of the state capital on Wednesday afternoon. The criminal identified as Sanjeev Maheshwari aka Jeeva was shot by assailants who were dressed as lawyers. Four persons including a child have been injured in the shootout.

Jeeva is said to be close to jailed mafia don Mukhtar Ansari and was currently in the Lucknow prison. The district administration had only recently auctioned his property. He was a dreaded name in Muzaffarnagar district of western UP. He names figures in many murders and kidnappings for ransom. His name had also cropped in the high-profile killing of BJP leader Brahmdutt Dwivedi in Farukkhabad in 1997.
