Earthquake Hits Nepal, Western UP Districts And Lucknow Jolted

Lucknow, Oct 3 (TNA) Many parts of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday afternoon were rocked by a strong earthquake. The intensity of the quake was felt more in western parts of Uttar Pradesh, the National Capital Region (NCR) and the union capital. The magnitude of the quake in Delhi was 4.6 on the Richter Scale while it was 6.2 in western UP.

The National Centre for Seismology said a magnitude 6.2 quake struck Nepal at depth of 5 km, resulting in tremors being felt in Delhi-NCR and western UP. Shocks were felt in Lucknow, Amroha, Ayodhya, Moradabad, Bijnor, Meerut, Shamli, Saharanpur and nearby areas.

People in many offices and homes rushed out in open as the tremors were felt. No immediate loss of lives or property has been reported in the initial hour.
