Eminent Historian Yogesh Praveen Passes Away
Lucknow, April 12 (TNA) Eminent historian Yogesh Praveen passed away on Monday after a brief bout of high-grade fever. The 82-year-old Padma Shri historian was suffering from fever and it is alleged that despite frantic calls for an ambulance it did not show up and he was rushed to Balrampur hospital in a private vehicle but he collapsed on way.
Social media burst with anger as people slammed the district administration of Lucknow and the state government for his death. He was hugely popular amongst the academics and the Lucknow crowd for his immense knowledge of Avadh, its history, culture and heritage.
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has also condoled his demise. In a condolence message, he said that Praveen had a deep knowledge of the culture and history of Avadh, especially Lucknow.
Through his books and articles, he enabled the public to know about the rich heritage and culture of Avadh too, he added. Praying for peace to the departed soul, the chief minister also conveyed his deep condolences to the bereaved family.
