Facial Recognition Cameras To Be Installed At Prayagraj Railway Station Before Mahakumbh 2025

Prayagraj, June 12 (TNA) To ensure foolproof security at the Mahakumbh 2025, facial recognition cameras will be installed at the Prayagraj railway station. They will be based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and will help to identify any suspects coming to the Kumbh Mela.

Currently, facial recognition cameras have been installed at the Bengaluru railway station under a pilot project. Now its scope will be extended to other stations as well. Talking about North Central Railway, it is proposed to install such cameras at Prayagraj Junction, Kanpur Central, Agra Cantt, Mathura Junction, Virangana Rani Laxmi Bai Jhansi, Gwalior and Aligarh Junction.

Preparations are on to install facial recognition cameras at all important railway stations of the state including Prayagraj Junction. Such cameras will be installed here before Mahakumbh 2025. Railway Board has instructed all zonal railways that only facial recognition cameras will be installed in future.

With their help, the suspects coming to the railway station can be easily identified. Apart from RPF control room, special cameras will also be connected to GRP and police control. Through RailTel they will also be installed at Fatehpur, Mirzapur, Orai, Khurja, Firozabad, Lalitpur, Khajuraho, Banda, Mahoba, Prayagraj Chheoki, Tundla, Etawah, Kanpur Anwarganj, Shikohabad, Manikpur, Dhaulpur, Morena, Bhind stations in future.

The information and photos of criminals who commit crimes are fed into the FRS (Face Recognition System) and whenever the culprit is seen in any of the FRS cameras installed in the stations, an alert message will be sent to the control room. Then the operator sitting in the control room will have to give this information along with the location to the railway police staff present, so that the concerned criminal can be caught as soon as possible.
