Flood Warning Issued In Noida As Hindon River Water Discharge Increases, 200 Evacuated
Noida, July 23 (TNA) The Gautam Buddh Nagar administration has raised a flood warning for low-lying regions along the Hindon River as water discharge in the river surged. Officials reported that the river's water level is currently flowing below the danger mark of 205 meters in the district bordering Delhi, located in western Uttar Pradesh. Despite being below the danger mark, precautions are being taken to ensure the safety of residents.
In response to the alert issued on Saturday, approximately 200 individuals from five villages have been promptly evacuated and relocated to shelter homes. The administration has taken measures to provide them with necessary accommodations, food, and healthcare facilities.
Atul Kumar, the Additional District Magistrate and the nodal officer for flood relief work in Gautam Buddh Nagar, confirmed that the river's water level is currently at 200 meters, below the danger mark of 205 meters. However, given the recent floods along the Yamuna river banks in the district, which submerged 550 hectares of low-lying land and impacted thousands of people and animals, authorities are not taking any chances and have acted swiftly to ensure the safety of residents.
The district, situated between the Hindon and Yamuna rivers, remains vulnerable to potential flood threats, and authorities are closely monitoring the situation. Residents in the region are advised to remain vigilant and cooperate with the administration's directives to mitigate any risks posed by the rising water levels.
